UNCENSORED LIBRARY

CAMPAIGN LAUNCH + PR STRATEGY
DDB BERLIN & MEDIAMONKS

We launched The Uncensored Library for NGO Reporters Without Borders - a digital treasure trove within a virtual world housing banned and censored news articles for young minds to discover. Our job was to get the world talking about the importance of press freedom, during a time when most news titles were solely reporting on the Covid-19 crisis.

We’re always thrilled to work on groundbreaking campaigns that generate global impact and turn the dial creatively. The Uncensored Library, a campaign championing the freedom of speech and tackling press censorship, is the epitome of our definition of groundbreaking. We worked closely with NGO Reporters Without Borders, DDB Berlin and digital powerhouse, MediaMonks, to create a press censorship loophole hidden in an unexpected place Minecraft.

LAUNCHING A MASS PRESS CENSORSHIP LOOPHOLE
- HIDDEN WITHIN MINECRAFT

For the first time, a computer game has been used to shine a light on the importance of press freedom. This covert, interactive library hosts a raft of banned and censored articles by journalists from around the world.

Journalists from Mexico, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Russia, despite having been banned, jailed, exiled and even killed – now have a place to make their voices heard again. Books will be republished in English and in their original language.

Leading a wider communication team, we managed to break all our previous records on exposure with articles written across major news, technology and creative titles. Highlights including CNN, TechCrunch, Le Monde, FastCompany, AdAge, and Gizmodo
